The world has experienced many changes during the last year or so during the current world health crisis. From the long months of lockdowns to the fear of catching the virus, this deadly pandemic has changed how we live on a day to day basis. However, we are thankfully slowly coming out of it in many countries around the world, and things are getting back to the new normal. The long periods of enforced isolation and working from home can drain your mind and soul. And now, as work and home life slowly returns to the way we used to enjoy it, many people are feeling in desperate need of a holiday in a quiet and calm destination, to relax and enjoy time with their loved ones.

There are plenty of places in the world where couples can travel to for some quality alone time. Whether you like to relax on pristine sandy beaches, visit remote and secluded resorts, or go for peaceful walks in a serene environment, there will always be somewhere you can go to relax and recharge in peace. Below are some destinations perfect for relaxation and recharging.

Blue Lagoon, Iceland

This is the most visited tourist attraction in the whole of the country, and you’ll probably have heard of it already. The destination is perfect for relaxing, thanks to its huge hot spring pool filled with water from the geothermal power plant. Bathing in the silky blue water is unlike anything else: it is soothing and rich in skin nourishments.

You can make the trip even more relaxing by staying at the luxurious Silica Hotel at Blue Lagoon, which is just 15 minutes away from the main Blue Lagoon. The hotel has a private part of the Blue Lagoon only accessible to those staying in the hotel, which is a bonus if you like holidaying in style. This provides an alternative to the crowded main lagoon if you want some alone time without the tourist hordes.

There’s a change to take a walk up the valley beneath the imposing Cuillin Ridge mountains which is simply breath-taking.

The seafood here is sublime too, as it’s fresh straight from the ocean, so make sure you try a few local dishes as you move around the island.
