Win a tasty tour for 2 with Bitemojo

Love food but aren’t crazy about tours? Then this one is for you…

One of the best things about travelling is getting to try delicious and unusual food, whether it’s sautéed snails in Bangkok, cheese and spinach emroli in Jerusalem, or proper pasta (not the stuff we boil to death at home) in Rome. Sure, the sights are stunning, and the culture is fascinating, but let’s be honest…eating is a huge reason we all go on holiday, so why not do it in style, and on your own terms.

Introducing Bitemojo

Bitemojo is a brilliant concept, allowing travellers to enjoy the ultimate food discovery experience, without having to plod around on a guided group tour. Instead, all you need is a smartphone and a taste for an adventure in food. Bitemojo delves into the depths of the culinary scene in each of its destinations, searching for local foodie heroes working away behind the scenes, which means the tours are all about authentic fresh food whilst supporting small businesses. The tours are also great for those who aren’t sure where to start when it comes to sampling local dishes, and will steer you away from the tourist traps and instead show you the real gems.

How Does it Work?

This self-guided food experience is an application that takes the traveller through hidden neighbourhoods, sampling bites of local food, as well as showing you key points of interest in between. It’s a great way to take a tour at your own pace at a time of your choosing. Basically, you’re in charge.

Participants just need to download the app, and book a tour online or directly within the app, in one of the cities featured. You’ll then receive an e-voucher which you’ll need to show at all the food stops on the tour. Simple. There’s also a handy map on the app to help you navigate between eateries, and show you some secret sights along the way.

The Tours

Bitemojo food tours last from 2.5 to 3 hours, include 6 substantial ‘bites’ and start from €25 per person. They are currently operating in Barcelona, Berlin, Bangkok, Budapest, Jerusalem, Ljubljana, Lisbon, Madrid, Rome, Singapore and Tel Aviv. There are no limits on how many people can take the tour together, although remember that larger groups will probably overcrowd most eateries, which tend to be small, and local.

What are Bite Credits?

Simply by booking a tour (and entering this giveaway!) you’ll earn Bite Credits which can be redeemed against any Bitemojo tour in the world. The best bit is that you can stop at any point during your tour and then continue on another day, even if it’s a month later and in a different destination. Great news if you start feeling a bit stuffed half way through, or have to finish the tour early!

Bite Credits can also be earned by rating a ‘bite’ (on one of the stops on the tour), reviewing a tour or suggesting a bite that gets approved. Once you have 1,000 bites you can redeem them on one of the tours.

When we were in Ko Samui a small boat came to our beach every day and served beautifully made spring rolls and mango on a stick. It was our daily lunch!

I travelled to Italy on a hiking tour of Tuscany and Umbria. On one of the final nights of the tour, we went to this fabulous restaurant in Assisi called La Locanda del Cardinale. It was stunningly beautiful, from an architectural perspective – it had glass floors in 2 of the 3 dining sections. The four-course meal there was so good I had a delicate ravioli with truffle sauce which was amazing.

We had the most amazing meal and wonderful service, in The Orangery at Chateau Chenonceau with Chateau bottled wine and it only cost something like £60 for two, fabulous value.
